USED EYEGLASSES

The Fayetteville Lions Club participates in the Lions Recycle for Sight project.  Since 1996, more than 37 million eyeglasses have been collected from clubs around the world.  At seven centers within the United States, the eyeglasses are sorted by volunteers, separating sunglasses, broken frames, and single lenses from intact pairs.  Recycled glasses are cleaned, repaired, classified by prescription and packaged for international missions sponsored by Gift of Sight Foundation and Lions Club.  These glasses cannot be used in the Untied States.  Our government requires only new glasses be dispensed in the USA..  However, since 1991, Gift of Sight Foundation and Lions Clubs have sponsored 88 missions to 25 developing countries, delivering exams and recycled glasses to more than one million people.  Your old eyeglasses does make a difference.
